Ideally we want to have one multi-unit franchisee active in each market and we have a strong preference to expand to cities and states adjacent to existing operations. Conversions of existing freestanding casual dining buildings usually present the best opportunities for more favorable economics, although the model has been proved in an inline end cap strip as well. Shell Shack is a dining establishment, which is also used for group meetings.
The initial cost of building a Shell Shack restaurant ranges from $588,500 to $858,900. This includes construction, furniture, fixtures, equipment, trade dress, working capital and certain other start-up expenses. Part of this investment is the initial franchise fee, which is $50,000. Total cost of each restaurant varies by size, age and location.

Restaurants are 4,000-6000 sq. ft. with outdoor seating and 50+ parking spaces. Prime locations that have excellent visibility and easy access are most desirable. In addition sites should be located in high traffic areas with above average daytime and residential demographic.
All managers and control personnel must participate in a 8-12 week training program at the Shell Shack Training Center located in Dallas, TX. Additionally, we provide an Opening Training Team; which is composed of at least 5 of our trained representatives to provide on-site pre-opening and opening training, supervision and assistance to you for a minimum of 14 days. Once completed, franchisees receive regular updates to their training, including on-site visits and operation reviews.
Each location is different depending on a variety of factors including the site selection, build-out requirements, permitting and training. However, it typically takes approximately 6-9 months from signing the franchise agreement to opening day at your Shell Shack restaurant.
